Opportunity Description: Park Camp Host – May 1, 2010 to October 31, 2010. Tuttle Creek Cove Park, Tuttle Creek Lake, and Tuttle Creek Cove Park are a COE Park with 56 campsites, boat ramp, beach, and picnic areas. Volunteer will be provided with a full service 50 amp site, including a storage shed. The volunteer will have 2 major duties: visitor assistance and minor facility maintenance. As an important part of the lake’s visitor assistance program the volunteer will welcome park visitors, register campers and day users, and distribute informational materials. Facility maintenance will include checking park facilities for cleanliness, and insuring that supplies are kept stocked in these facilities. Other duties will include roadside litter pickup, mowing designated areas, and watering and maintaining tree, lawn, and flowerbed plantings. Volunteer will be provided with all required administrative supplies, radios, mower, and other tools to accomplish assigned tasks. Opportunity Description: Campground Maintenance-April 1, 2010 through September 30, 2010. Volunteer will perform various light duty maintenance work to include: painting, staining; light carpentry work (repair/replace rotted or damaged boards on privies, shelters, picnic tables, etc.); replace screens in park restrooms and shower facilities; pruning, weeding flowerbeds, planting and watering trees/shrubs; etc. Volunteers are required to provide 20 hours per week service in exchange for a free campsite with full hookups. Opportunity Description: Visitor Center Operation - April 1, 2010 through September 30, 2010 times maybe adjustable. 24 hour per week per couple. Operate Visitor Center on weekends, light maintenance work such as watering, weeding, painting, filing, bulletin board updates, pruning, cleaning, and other light task. Prospective volunteers will receive an information packet with a map of the local area, the lake, and photos of the RV campsite. Volunteer will receive RV Campsite with full hookup, 50 Amp service, water and sewer. The campsite is isolated on a secure road. Volunteers are located alone within walking distance of the Visitor Center. Great fishing lake, with 30 minutes of Kansas City.. Volunteer will be provided with a full service site including a storage shed. The Camphost will have 2 major duties: visitor assistance and facility maintenance. As an important part of the lakes visitor assistance program the volunteer will welcome all visitors and provide fee, rule and regulation, and other general information. The volunteer will monitor park activities and will contact the park ranger if a problem is observed. Other duties will include roadside litter pickup, cleaning of fire rings, and watering and maintaining flowerbeds. Opportunity Description: Volunteer Coordinator / Honor Camp Work Crew Supervisor - March 1, 2010 through November 30, 2010. Volunteer will be provided with a full service site. This is a challenging and rewarding position. The volunteer’s main duty will be to supervise a Department of Corrections Honor Camp Work Crew in various recreation / resource management projects in Corps of Engineers campgrounds. Projects may include but are not limited to: boundary line brush clearing, park / facility mowing, trail construction and maintenance, bird house / feeder construction and installation, park litter pickup, and similar projects. Volunteer will be provided with training prior to beginning work with the honor camp crews. A vehicle will also be provided for the volunteer. Volunteer must have a valid driver license.
