Opportunity Description: * Study "Room Guide for Interpretation" and acquire knowledge concerning interpretive aspects related to the historic house, including the Floyd family's 250-year occupation, the additions and furnishings reflecting that history and a basic knowledge of corresponding social, economic and political events that took place both locally and nationally.
Opportunity Description: * Volunteers at the Watch Hill campground will be responsible for campers on weekends throughout the camping season. * Campground hosts will assist Rangers in patrolling the campground, monitoring reservations and providing education of area to the campers. * Provide basic maintenance of the campground. * Provide a contact station (campsite #3) for visitor assistance. * Inform Park Rangers of incidents that occur in and around the campground. * Campground hosts are encouraged to participate in extending knowledge and appreciation of the Watch Hill area by providing assistance when needed in interpretive service. Opportunity Description: * Assist Park Rangers with daily care of park patrol horses by cleaning stalls, providing clean fresh water and feeding. * Groom, lunge and/or ride, cool down, re-groom, and stall or place in corral assigned horse(s). * Patrol Fire Island National Seashore on horse, serving as eyes and ears for the Ranger Divison. * Provide information and assistance to park visitors while on duty by answering questions, explaining regulations, giving directions and/or directing them to appropriate personnel in emergencies. * Fill out all horse patrol and VIP logs. * Clean stalls and paddock. * Clean water trough and refill. * Groom horses fully and clean hooves before and after riding. * Lunge and/or ride to exercise horse and patrol area. *Assist visitors and advise rangers of any hazards and/or suspicious occurrences. * Maintain good radio contact using proper radio procedures and etiquette. * Cool horses down before returning to stables. * Groom horse after riding. * Feed all horses at the proper time. * Care for tack and gear daily (cleaning and drying after each ride). * Accomplish all required duties in a safe manner consistent with park service rules and regulations.

Opportunity Description: * Monitors/protects threatened/endangered species (particularly piping plovers and least terns) within the park. * Collects data for parks GIS program and enters data into computer. * Monitors park natural resources and notifies Natural Resource Management Specialist of changes or possibly significant incidents. * Completes marine mammal, wildfire, or park research activities as needed. * Assist researchers and biological technician as needed. * Maintain good radio contact using proper radio procedures and etiquette. * Foster good working relationships with all divisions. * Assist visitors and advise rangers of any hazards and/or suspicious occurrences. * Accomplish all required duties in a safe manner consistent with National Park Service rules and regulations.
