Description
The San Diego River Park Foundation’s Clean and green Team will hold a river cleanup event to help remove trash and debris from the San Diego River east of Qualcomm Stadium. Please help us take back our river and save it from illegal dumping. This is a great activity for people interested in clean water and a clean habitat for the plants and animals that call the river home. All tools and supplies are provided. Community service hours can be verified for those that need them. Be sure to dress in clothes that can get a little dirty and wear closed shoes, no sandals or flip-flops allowed for safety reasons. Volunteers will meet in the 24hour fitness parking lot at 5800 Ward Rd San Diego, CA 92108 under the trolley stairs.

Bureau of Land Management – Lower Potomac Field Station Needs Volunteers to help build three NEW BIKE TRAILS at the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area. Meet at Trail Head Parking Lot: 10324 Belmont Blvd., Lorton, VA 22079

Fifteen to twenty volunteers are needed on Saturdays beginning February 16, 2013 and other dates posted below. Unfortunately we do need to put a cap on how many volunteers can join. A maximum of 20 volunteers will be allowed to participate.

This is a great opportunity for those of you who may need service learning hours (7 hrs) or who just want to help the BLM with this new trail.

Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian fill out the approval section of the Volunteer Agreement before volunteering. Please find attached the Volunteer Agreement Form for those who are under 18 years old. All adults do not need to print or bring the form. All 18 and over can sign the agreement on site at the event with the project leader.

Prospective volunteers may pre-register by completing the application and bringing a printed copy with you when you arrive. Note: Youth volunteers will need to have the parental approval and photo release signed by a legal guardian.

As part of our ongoing mission to save the San Diego River and its surrounding habitat, volunteers are needed to help remove trash and debris from the riverbed in the Mission Valley Preserve near the YMCA at 5505 Friars Rd. 92110

The San Diego River is a very important waterway from both an historic and ecological standpoint, home to many rare and endangered plants and animals. Help us to restore our river and nature preserve to provide a clean and healthy habitat for the native plants and wildlife that call the river home. No experience necessary, all tools and supplies provided. Community service hours can be verified for those that need them. Participants are asked to wear sturdy clothing that can get a little dirty and also wear closed shoes. Hat and sunscreen are recommended. Light rain does not cancel the event.

Groups and people 14 and up are welcomed.

Volunteers can park in the parking lot of the SDPD Western Division at 5215 Gaines St. 92110. We will meet across the street from the police department at the western end of the YMCA parking lot at 5505 Friars Rd. 92110.
